Honouring the memory of a loved one with a memorial bench or tree is a meaningful way to celebrate their life in a space that brings peace and joy to others.
Town staff will work with you to choose a thoughtful location and will handle all the details to ensure the process is simple and respectful.
To learn more, please review the Memorial Bench and Tree Program Criteria and Application. Completed applications can be submitted in person at the Town Office (52 Seguin Street, Parry Sound, ON P2A 1B4) or by email to the Manager of Parks & Recreation.

The Community Remembrance Project
The Community Remembrance Project is a partnership between Parry Sound High School (PSHS), the Town of Parry Sound, the Downtown Business Association, the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 117, and the Museum on Tower Hill. All of these organizations asked local individuals, families, and community groups to sponsor the creation of street banners honouring local veterans, which have been displayed in downtown Parry Sound annually in October and November.
This project was initiated by the students and teachers involved in the Vimy 100 Trip at Parry Sound High School in 2016 as an important opportunity for the Parry Sound Community to honour local veterans.

In 2019, the Ontario Trillium Foundation approved a grant for $43,100 to support the animation and preservation of local WWII stories. The project, a joint partnership between the Rotary Club of Parry Sound and the Town of Parry Sound, was completed between 2019 and 2020. Thanks to the funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and the dedication of project partners and emerging filmmakers, the contributions and sacrifices of our local WWII veterans will be remembered for generations to come.
For more information on the project, view our project press release.
