It acts as the service centre for the world renowned 30,000 Islands of Georgian Bay and is located approximately 2 hours north of Toronto, and forty-five minutes away by air. Parry Sound is the commercial hub servicing a year-round population of 18,000 and a seasonal population of 60,000 plus.

The Town is one of the few in the area that has access to full municipal water and sewer services to facilitate any development proposal, and is the only urban centre between Barrie and Sudbury along Highway 400.
