Explore Parry Sound

Located approximately two hours north of Toronto and two hours south of Sudbury, Parry Sound hugs the shores of the world's largest freshwater archipelago, known as the 30,000 Islands. In 2004, UNESCO designated the region as a World Biosphere Reserve, the Georgian Bay Mnidoo Gamii Biosphere Region.

Parry Sound is rich in arts, culture and heritage. The Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts and Bobby Orr Hall of Fame are home to the international summer music festival, the Festival of the Sound. The Hall of Fame pays tribute to home-town hockey hero, Bobby Orr.

The six kilometer Rotary and the Algonquin Regiment Fitness Trail is a waterfront trail linking to the North Shore Rugged Trail. Stop along the way for a quick swim in sparkling, clean waters or enjoy a picnic at Waubuno Beach or catch a breath-taking sunset over the Bay.

Step into the past and explore the Museum on Tower Hill.

The Museum on Tower Hill will connect you and your family to our district’s past. The permanent gallery shares the history of logging, shipping, the early days of northern life and features a model train of the Ottawa, Arnprior and Parry Sound Railway! Visitors can have some fun participating in the Northern Nature Exchange, which encourages people of all ages to appreciate nature and learn about the environment through observation. The Museum also has two temporary galleries that allow you to discover more of the area’s history through rotating exhibitions. Head to their website for more information on upcoming exhibits, events, facility rentals or volunteering.

The Museum is located on the same property as the Tower Hill Lookout and Heritage Gardens.

Parry Sound's 30m high observation tower provides stunning 360 degree views of the harbour Georgian Bay. After taking 130 steps up, you will be able to gaze down upon boats, float planes and barges, and the famous Canadian Pacific Railway trestle bridge below you.

Below the lookout tower is the Tower Hill Heritage Garden where you can wander through beautiful gardens that are planted and maintained by volunteers.

Also at the base of the lookout tower is the Museum on Tower Hill where you can learn about the history of our area.
