Wasauksing Kinomaugegamik Community Water Walk, May 30th, 2024

Friends of the Town of Parry Sound are invited by Wasauksing Kinomaugewgamik (School) to walk in ceremony together for this year's 13th Annual Water Walk. 

The School Children and Youth encourage all community to join and uplift the water with them as we walk in prayer, offering our intentions and medicine to the spirit and future of the water. For the health of Georgian Bay, and all the little steams, rivers and bodies of water surrounding us and beyond. For 13 years, students, staff and community members have facilitated this ceremony with prayers for all of creation and those within it, including our community of Parry Sound and families. Let's join them this year to learn together, ways in which we can continue to foster a strong future for beautiful fresh water. 

This year's Walk will start at 9:30am from Wasauksing Kinomaugewgamik Ceremonial Grounds (garden behind the school/community complex). Proceed toward Parry Sound, connecting onto the fitness trail at the bottom of Emily/Champagne St., follow Fitness trail towards the Salt Docks. From there proceed to Isabella St, forward onto Yvonne Williams Park at approx. 12:30-1:00pm - Arrival at end destination for Water Bundle Ceremony, acknowledgments and recognitions, giveaways and more!

Wasauksing Kinomaugewgamik welcomes and encourages new folks to join them this year! It's a big celebration, come learn and give thanks with us. 

Walkers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, remember to bring a water bottle or copper vessel (copper is used in Ojibwe Water Ceremonies to help purify and cleanse the water, enriching it with good minerals and medicine).
